Who can sign up?
Grades 7 and up are welcome to enroll, as we'll be focusing on valuable learning and playing skills that will benefit students who will be auditioning, as well as those just looking ahead and wanted to be prepared for the audition experience. We'll be focusing specifically on elements necessary for a successful audition, such as required applied theory elements, sight reading, and mastery of the required performance music.
What we do in the sessions.
- Provide personal instruction on the required audition elements: performance excerpts, scales, and sightreading
- In-depth technique practice and drills to make playing easy and fluid
- Learn (and practice) the secret to being an amazing sightreader
- Play required scales like a virtuoso
- Performance Skills, conquering nerves - we'll make sure you're ready and confident
- Mock Auditions, what to expect
- Plus, a checklist of everything you'll need to be the most prepared student on audition day!
This isn't a crash course.
No learning by ear or rote. No shortcuts. To make the cut, we'll be taking a very in-depth look at the repertoire you'll need, and working those scales to perfection. Expect A LOT of sightreading. But, by the end of our sessions, you'll own the music!
- Note and Rhythm Accuracy
- Dynamics, Expression
- Technique
- Ear Training, theory, form
- A look at the composer and historical elements
- Performance etiquette, audition preparation
