Music teachers everywhere will agree...Piano is THE best instrument to begin with and ideal for 5 and 6-year-olds learning to read and play music. The piano’s layout is straightforward, making it easy for small hands to press the keys and see the direct relationship between the notes they play and the sounds they hear. This visual and tactile feedback helps young children quickly grasp basic music theory, pitch development, and rhythm. Playing the piano enhances coordination and promotes independence as each hand often performs different tasks simultaneously. Moreover, recognizing patterns on the keyboard fosters cognitive skills and pattern recognition, laying a strong foundation for overall musical development.

FAQs
What will my child learn from this class?
Your child will learn the basics of piano playing, including reading music, understanding rhythm, and developing coordination. They'll start playing simple songs from the very first lesson and engage in fun music activities that enhance their pattern recognition and pitch development. Additionally, they'll build confidence, a sense of accomplishment, and a love for music that will serve as a strong foundation for future musical growth. But, perhaps most importantly, they'll have experienced that music is fun!
Will my child have trouble focusing?
Nope! Your child won't have trouble focusing. Our program is age-appropriate, and we're experts at staying on task and keeping them totally engaged with fun music activities, exercises, and songs. The time will fly by!
Will my child have homework/practice assignments?
No, there is no formal practice requirement at home. However, to instill a sense of identity, pride, and accomplishment, we encourage students to play every day! Regular playing is key to becoming a great piano player. We suggest that students show off what they've learned to you at home—maybe even give a mini concert! This not only reinforces their learning but also builds their confidence and joy in playing music.
Do parents need to be present during the lesson to help?
No, parents are not required to stay during the lessons. The student will be constantly supervised by the teacher and our assistants, ensuring a safe, nurturing and focused learning environment while having a great time! We find that the dynamic is often better with parents out of sight, allowing children to fully engage and build confidence in their abilities. However, we do understand you're excited about this new musical adventure and want to share it with your child....our studio space is such that there is plenty of room for parents to wait, listen in, or peek in, as you feel comfortable.
