Piano Lessons

Weekly, one-hour lessons (consisting of 30 minutes of applied piano instruction and 30 minutes of theory lab) that focus on developing strong music reading skills, as well as piano technique and performance.  The theory portion of the lesson covers music form and analysis, notation and terminology, harmony, ear training, sight reading and music history.  Recommended for ages 7 and older.

 

Strings Lessons

For ages 7 - Adult.  Private lessons in violin, viola, or cello are one hour per week, including theory lab.  The lessons cover all aspects of music study with particular emphasis on technique and sight reading.  Includes preparation assistance for annual regional try-outs, as well as College Entrance Auditions.  Performance opportunities are available throughout the year for interested students.  Students are encouraged to participate in our Strings Chamber Orchestra to add ensemble experience to their program.  For our recommendation on instrument rental, click here.

 

Harp Lessons

Weekly, one-hour lessons for lever and pedal harp, includes the applied lesson plus theory lab and harp ensemble.  The theory portion of the lesson covers music form and analysis, notation and terminology, harmony, ear training, sight reading and music history.  The Ensemble element reinforces listening skills, rhythm, performance and improvisation. Recommended for ages 10 and older.

Brass & Woodwinds (Clarinet, Bassoon, Euphonium, Trumpet)

Lessons are one hour each week and include theory lab time.  Particular emphasis during the lesson and at home is placed on developing strong sight reading skills.  The curriculum is designed to heighten music appreciation and expression while students have fun!  For information on instrument rental, click here.

 

Flute

Like the other instruments, our private flute lessons include theory at each one-hour weekly lesson.  To develop strong reading and practice skills, a strong emphasis is placed on sight reading.  For information on instrument rental, click here.

 

Guitar

Lessons for ages 8 through Adult for acoustic and electric guitar.  Lessons are one hour per week and include Classical study, theory lab and performances.  Students learn to read on-staff music as well as tablature and may study a wide variety of styles and genres with our experienced instructors.  For information on purchasing a guitar, we ask that you please contact us directly so that one of our instructors may assist you in choosing the correct size and grade instrument for your needs (540.659.0506 or

Voice

Lessons cover many forms and time periods of music, from Classic to Pop.  One-hour, weekly lessons include theory lab, ear training, sight singing and vocal technique.  Special areas of study may include specific repertoire and training for annual All-County, District and Regional events and competitions, as well as preparation for College Entry Auditions.
